Computer, Wi-Fi and printer help for your home

The laptop that takes four minutes to wake up. The Wi-Fi that dies in the back bedroom. The pop-ups you cannot get rid of. The new computer still in its box because setting it up looks like a whole afternoon.

Almost everything on this page is one flat price for the whole job — and you know the number before I begin. If it takes me longer than I planned, that is my problem, not yours.

One person, every time. Licensed and insured, based in Murfreesboro.

How this works

  • You tell me what is going wrong, in your own words
  • I tell you the flat price — before anything starts
  • If it can be done remotely, I say so, and you pay less
  • I fix it, then walk you through what happened so it makes sense
  • 30-day guarantee: if that same problem comes back, I fix it again free
  • Flat prices — agreed before I start
  • No trip charge in Murfreesboro & nearby
  • 8 years IT for a radiology company
  • Licensed and insured Tennessee LLC
  • 30-day guarantee on the fix

Start here: it may not need a visit at all

A slow computer, an email you cannot get into, a printer that will not print — I can usually fix those over a secure remote connection while you sit on your own sofa. It is cheaper than a visit, it is normally faster, and neither of us has to drive anywhere.

What "remote" actually means

You click one link I send you and approve the connection. You can watch everything I do on your own screen the entire time, and you can end it at any moment. Nothing stays running on your computer afterwards, and I never connect again without you letting me in that day.

If I look at it and it genuinely needs hands on the machine, I tell you and we book a visit — and you have not paid for the remote session.

Remote help — I connect, you stay home

  • Quick FixOne problem, up to 30 minutes$95
  • Each extra 30 minutes in the same session$75

  • Virus & Malware Cleanup$179
  • Email, Password or Account Lockout Rescue$95
  • New Computer SetupAccounts, email, printer and security — no file transfer$149

If a machine is bad enough that the safe answer is wiping and reinstalling Windows, that is the Windows Rebuild below — and I tell you before I start, not after.

At your house — flat price, one visit

No trip charge in Murfreesboro, Smyrna, La Vergne, Christiana, Rockvale or Eagleville. Prices below are for the whole job, not per hour.

Computers

  • Service Call & DiagnosisI come out, find the problem and give you a written price. Credited in full toward any job you book that same visit$119
  • New Computer SetupOut of the box to fully working$199
  • New Computer Setup + Full TransferYour files, photos, email, bookmarks and settings moved from the old machine$299
  • Slow Computer RescueTune-up, cleanup, updates, and an honest answer about whether it is worth keeping$229
  • Virus & Malware Cleanup$269
  • Windows RebuildWipe, reinstall clean, restore your files and programs$349
  • Data TransferFrom an old computer, laptop or external drive$229
  • Failed Drive Recovery AttemptFlat fee, paid whether or not the data comes back$299

On failed drives: if the drive is physically damaged it needs a clean-room lab, and I will tell you who to call. My $299 attempt covers drives that are failing but still spinning — and I tell you honestly which one you have before you pay anything.

Wi-Fi, network and printers

  • Home Wi-Fi FixOne router: dead zones, slow speeds, devices that keep dropping$199
  • Whole-Home Mesh Wi-FiInstall and configure up to 3 units, every device moved over$429
  • Each extra mesh unit, same visit$75
  • Printer SetupWired or wireless, connected to every computer and phone in the house$149

Mesh equipment is extra. I will tell you exactly what to buy, or I will buy it for you at my cost plus 12%.

TV, streaming and smart devices

  • TV & Streaming SetupInputs, apps, accounts, remotes and a written cheat sheet$179
  • Smart Home Device SetupDoorbell, thermostat, speaker, camera or lock — first device$149
  • Each extra smart device, same visit$69
  • Home Office SetupMonitors, dock, printer, backup, and your video calls actually tested$349
  • Backup SetupCloud backup configured, and a real file restored to prove it works$199

I do not mount TVs on walls or run cable inside walls. I will recommend someone who does, and I will happily do the setup once they are finished.

Sitting down with you

  • Tech Coaching — 90 minutesYour questions, your pace, your computer or your phone$269

Bring a list. The usual ones: how to spot a scam email or text, how to stop the pop-ups, how to find your photos, how to video-call the grandkids, how to stop paying for something you do not use. Good for anyone, and built with parents and grandparents in mind — patient, unhurried, and I leave you written notes you can keep.

If nothing above fits

Some jobs are genuinely unpredictable — an old machine with a mystery problem, three things tangled together, a house-wide mess. For those:

  • On-site, first hour$189
  • Each additional 30 minutes$95

I tell you at the 45-minute mark whether it is going long and roughly how much longer, so you can decide. I do not run the clock quietly.

Home Care Plan

Most people do not need this, and I would rather say so. Here is who does: anyone with two or more computers in the house who would rather not think about them again.

What you get

  • You go to the front of the line when you call
  • Windows and macOS updates and antivirus checked and kept current on up to 3 home computers
  • A short written health report every three months — what is aging, what is full, what is at risk
  • One free 15-minute remote fix every month
  • 20% off every price on this page, including the on-site visit rate
  • An annual backup check — I verify your backup actually works

$29 / month

Or $290 a year — two months free.

Cancel any time with 30 days' notice.

What I don't do

I would rather say this now than disappoint you at the door.

  • TV wall mounting, cable inside walls, network jacks or any drilling. I will refer you to someone who does it properly, and I will do the setup afterwards
  • Clean-room data recovery from a physically dead drive — that is a specialist lab
  • Phone and tablet screen repair, and game console repair
  • Printer hardware repair. I set them up and get them talking to your devices; I do not fix the mechanics
  • Sunday, overnight or 24/7 availability. I am one person and I would rather tell you now
  • Work on a computer used for a job that handles patient or client records. That is a business engagement with different rules — happy to have that conversation separately

The terms, simply put

  • Payment is due when the work is finished. Card, bank transfer or check
  • Parts and equipment are paid for up front, at my cost plus 12%. You are always welcome to buy them yourself — I will tell you exactly what to get
  • 30-day guarantee: if the specific problem I fixed comes back within 30 days, I fix it again at no charge
  • Flat prices cover the job described. If I open it up and find something different, I stop and re-quote. You will never get a surprise invoice from me
  • Data recovery attempts and diagnosis fees are non-refundable — you are paying for the work, not a guaranteed outcome
  • Prices are effective August 2026 and may change

Who is actually coming to your house

Poe Bailey. One person, licensed, local — and probably overqualified for your printer.

8 yrs

doing IT for a radiology company — 200 remote sites and 60 radiologists, with strict patient-privacy rules the whole time

  • The same person every time. No dispatcher, no rotating technician, no reading from a script.
  • I explain what happened. In words you can repeat to someone else, so you are less stuck next time.
  • I will tell you when it is not worth fixing. Sometimes the honest answer is that a nine-year-old laptop has done its time, and saying so costs me the job.
  • No upselling. If you do not need the Home Care Plan, I will say you do not need the Home Care Plan.
  • More about me is on the about section of the home page.

Questions people ask before they call

Do I have to bring my computer somewhere?

No. There is no shop and no drop-off counter. Either I connect remotely while you stay on your sofa, or I come to your house. Whichever is right for the problem, I will tell you which one it is when you call.

Is the remote connection safe?

Yes, and you stay in control of it. You approve the connection, you watch everything I do on your own screen, and you can end it at any second. Nothing is left running on your computer afterwards, and I cannot get back in later without you letting me in again that day.

I will never call you out of the blue asking for access. If someone phones claiming to be from Microsoft, Apple or "your computer company" and wants remote access, that is a scam — hang up and call me instead.

What if you can't fix it?

Then I tell you that, and I tell you what your options are — including the ones that do not involve paying me. The $119 service call covers coming out and diagnosing the problem, so that is still due, but it is credited in full against any work you decide to book on the same visit.

The one job I charge for regardless of outcome is a failed drive recovery attempt, at a flat $299, and I say so before you agree to it.

Do you work on Macs?

Yes — Windows and macOS, plus iPhones, iPads, printers, routers, streaming boxes and smart-home gear. What I do not do is phone or tablet screen repair, game console repair, or printer hardware repair.

Can you buy the computer or the Wi-Fi equipment for me?

I can, at my cost plus 12%, paid up front. Or I will write down exactly what to order and you buy it yourself for less — genuinely, either is fine with me. I do not make my living on hardware markup.

My mom needs help and gets flustered. Will you be patient?

Yes. The 90-minute Tech Coaching session exists for exactly this: her pace, her questions, her device, and written notes she can keep afterwards. Every question is a fair question, nobody gets rushed, and nobody takes the mouse away.

Scam awareness is usually the most valuable part of that session, and it is the part that saves the most money.

How do I pay, and when?

When the work is finished — card, bank transfer or check. Parts and equipment are the exception and are paid up front. There is no deposit for ordinary jobs and no charge for the phone call where we work out what you need.

Do you do this for businesses too?

Yes, and it is a different menu with different prices — see IT for your business. If you work from home for someone else, or your home computer handles customer or patient records, that is business work and we should talk about it that way.

Tell me what's going on

Send this and I will get back to you the same business day. If it is faster to just call, please do — you will reach me, not a receptionist.
